The “Yum Ham” (
) is a Thai salad with ham as the main ingredient. The ham, cut into strips, is mixed with herbs, shallots, and
sometimes tomatoes or cucumbers, and dressed with a typical yam dressing made from lime juice, fish sauce, chilis, and palm sugar. This salad is an example of
adapting Thai preparation methods to Western ingredients, but may also have been prepared earlier with Yunnan ham.
