Beef with Herbs

Saa Nuea ( ) is a northern Thai dish where raw or rare beef is seasoned with Prik Laap mixture and served together with shallots, some broth and fresh herbs. Popular herbs include long coriander, Vietnamese coriander, peppermint, holy basil or lemon basil.

There are also variations of this dish that use offal and are seasoned with blood, bile or the partly digested contents of the first stomach of cattle. The various variations are also known under the name “Saa Jin” (ส้าจิ๊น).
