In Thailand, “prik nam plaa” (
พริกน้ำปลา) refers to chilis (prik) cut into rings and marinated in fish sauce (“nam plaa”). In addition
to the chilis, this simple spicy sauce can also contain other ingredients such as garlic or a little lime juice.
A jar of prik nam plaa can be found on every table in many restaurants in Thailand and is an indicator of the authenticity of Thai restaurants. Sometimes this
sauce is also called “Nam Plaa Prik” (
น้ำปลาพริก).
