"Miang Plaa"
(เมี่ยงปลา) is a dish in which cooked, grilled, fried or deep-fried fish is cut into bite-sized pieces and wrapped in wild pepper
leaves together with a selection of ingredients such as peanuts, chilies, pieces of lime, shallots, dried prawns, ginger and a spicy sauce are wrapped in wild
pepper leaves and eaten as a snack.
There are also variations in which rice noodles are added or the pepper leaves are replaced by lettuce or other leaves. The dish can also be found under the
name “Miang Plaa Pao” (
เมี่ยงปลาเผา). If a specific fish is used, its name can also be appended to the name of the dish, for example
“Miang Plaa Thapthim” (
เมี่ยงปลาทับทิม) or “Miang Plaa Salmon” (
เมี่ยงปลาแซลมอน).
