Gaeng Om Nuea (Lanna)

“Gaeng Om Nuea” ( แกงอ่อมเนื้อ ) is a Northern Thai soup or curry with clear broth and beef or buffalo meat as well as fresh herbs. The soup is based on a paste made from chilis, garlic, shallots, lemongrass, galangal and makhwaen or Sichuan pepper. To distinguish it from the similarly named “Gaeng Om” from Isaan, the dish could also be called “Gaeng Om Nuea Lanna”.
