is a Thai soup with Lao origins that is based on a broth made from yanang extract and a simple paste of lemongrass,
chilis, garlic and shallots. It contains the eponymous bamboo shoots, usually some meat such as pork belly, pumpkin, potatoes or wing beans, and various types
of mushrooms. The broth is seasoned with fish sauce and plaa ra and thickened with glutinous rice flour.
